I would like to extend my congratulations to the Japan-Australia/Australia-Japan Business Co-operation Committee for holding their 60th annual joint conference this year.

Marubeni has been in business here in Australia for over 60 years since Marubeni-Iida Australia (now Marubeni Australia Ltd) was established in 1956, and it has been developing a broad range of businesses such as metals & mineral resources, infrastructure, forestry plantation, food (premium beef), construction & industrial machinery and chemicals. In addition to these, we have been strengthening the decarbonisation business in recent years.

Here in Australia, there is a beautiful vast land with glorious shining sun and strong wind, which is eminently suitable for generating renewable energy. Solar and wind energy’s stable power supply enables us to generate hydrogen and ammonia. Furthermore, Australia has great potential to be able to use its abundant natural resources for carbon capture and storage development.

We will continue to make further contributions to the development of the Japan-Australia economy through working together with all stakeholders as One Team.
