Mr Nishitani has a BA in Business and Commerce from Keio University. He joined the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) in April 1986 and has held many roles within the organisation during this time, being appointed as the Executive Director in January 2021. He is responsible for international business promotion, promotion of private economic diplomacy, support for overseas business expansion and dispatch of overseas inspection missions.

Additionally, in April 2021, Mr Nishitani was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors, Center for International Collaboration and elected as member of WCF General Council Councillor in January 2023.
