Gender Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable

On Friday 7 October ahead of the 59th Annual Australia-Japan Joint Business Conference, the AJBCC Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, led by chair Professor Veronica Taylor, were honoured to host an invited group of thought leaders, both men and women, in a roundtable discussion on Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Business: Next Steps.

Participants included representatives of AJBCC/JABCC member organisations and experts from other networks.

The conversation went beyond individuals and organisations to discuss:

• What needs to change in corporate structures – of all sizes – to make gender equity, diversity and inclusion a routine part of how we do business,
• What social policy changes we need for businesses in Japan and Australia to utilise a full range of talent,
• What social policy changes we need to support every individual to participate in the workforce in their preferred way, and
• How gender equity, diversity and inclusion can contribute to productivity.

The AJBCC and JABCC are committed to deepening bilateral conversation and action on gender equity, diversity and inclusion in business. Outputs from this session will pave the way for further discussion over coming months as the AJBCC builds towards its 60th anniversary conference in Melbourne in October 2023.
