The Net Zero Institute (NZI) at the University of Sydney invites you to the launch of the 2026 NZI Critical Minerals and Materials Capabilities Snapshot.
Building on NZI’s 2024 White Paper, “The Sustainable Supply of Materials for the Clean Energy Transition”, this Snapshot reflects key developments since 2024, a period marked by rapid policy change, geopolitical uncertainty, evolving markets and intensifying global competition for the critical minerals and materials essential to the net zero transition.
The Capabilities Snapshot highlights new research projects and expertise across the NZI at the University of Sydney, demonstrating the importance of end‑to‑end innovation across critical minerals and materials value chains, and the role of collaboration in translating research capability into resilient, investable outcomes.
The event will also highlight the importance of Japan as a strategic partner, drawing on the depth of long‑standing bilateral collaboration in this 50th anniversary year of Australia–Japan relations to underscore how such partnerships underpin secure, sustainable and mutually beneficial critical minerals and materials value chains.
The program will include a series of short, focused lightning presentations from NZI researchers, offering concise insights into current projects, emerging technologies and collaboration opportunities across the critical minerals and materials pipeline.
The session will provide a platform for engagement and exchange across research, policy and industry.
Networking refreshments will follow the formal launch.
