2025 has heralded the onset of significant new realities: radical change in the global economic, political and security environment, with a growing trend to protectionism; increased uncertainty about the direction of the clean energy transition; and sharpening competition in key areas of technology such as Artificial Intelligence and Quantum computing.
Our 2025 Annual Joint Business Conference brought together leading businesspeople and thought leaders from both countries to examine the role of Australia and Japan as partners in navigating these turbulent waters.
Our 2025 Annual Joint Business Conference culminated in a Joint Statement signed off by AJBCC President Peter Grey and JABCC Chairman Michiaki Hirose that maps out a broad agenda for business and government to work on together in the coming year.
We’re looking forward to taking the next step at next year’s event in Chiba, 4-6 October 2026 where we will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan.
