The Japan Education and Cultural Centre of WA (JECCWA), managed by the Australia-Japan Society of WA (AJSWA), is opening its doors to the public for a vibrant Open Day on Saturday 4 October, 2025, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
This free community event will showcase the beauty and diversity of Japanese culture through performances, demonstrations, food, and hands-on activities for all ages.
Visitors can enjoy a rich program including:
- Bonsai Talk & Display – discover the artistry and care behind miniature trees.
- Ikebana Display & Demonstration – experience the elegance of Japanese flower
arranging. - Taiko Drumming & Bon Dance – feel the rhythm of traditional music and dance.
- Okinawan Culture & Music Display – explore the unique heritage of Okinawa.
- Kyudo Demonstration – witness the precision and discipline of Japanese archery.
- Food & Fun – taste Japanese flavours at a food truck, enjoy a sausage sizzle, browse
Mizuhiki crafts for sale, and capture memories at the photo booth. - Children’s Activities – engaging and family-friendly fun throughout the day.

The Open Day is not only a celebration but also an invitation. Guests are encouraged to explore JECCWA’s resources, including language learning materials and regular workshops such as ikebana, bonsai and traditional crafts.
