Fusion energy is rapidly gaining global attention as a potential contributor to a low-carbon future. Join us at the Future Energy Forum to examine what these developments could mean for Australia’s energy transition.
Delivered by the Melbourne Energy Institute (MEI) and the University of Melbourne Industry Partnerships team, this forum will convene senior leaders from industry, government, research and investment to discuss the latest technical and commercial advancements in fusion energy. The conversation will explore key considerations including investment and deployment pathways, regulatory frameworks, system integration, and the role fusion may play in Australia’s evolving energy mix. The Forum will also address the important issue of social licence, including how to build public understanding and trust in nuclear-adjacent technologies, and clarify distinctions between fusion and fission.
Featured speakers include:
- Dr Sam Sicilia, Chief Investment Officer, Hostplus
- Prof Maria Rost Rublee, Professor, International Relations, University of Melbourne
- Dr Warren McKenzie, Managing Director, HB11 Energy
- Matt Bungey, Director, Type One Energy Australia
The seminar will be hosted by Professor Richard Sandberg, Director of the Melbourne Energy Institute, and moderated by Professor Martin Sevior from the University of Melbourne’s School of Physics.
