On 21 May 2025, the AJBCC Future Leaders Speaker Series hosted a Fireside Chat with AJBCC Board Member, Peter Yates AM FTSE. Peter shared insights from his extensive career and background, particularly focusing on his experiences with Japan. A key theme of the discussion was the concept of being a “First Mover” and the valuable lessons this offers for career strategy.
Future Leaders gained practical strategies from Peter’s overview. He encouraged them to consider key questions when planning their careers, including: “What do I want to be doing in 5 years’ time?”, “What are the new industries that are emerging?”, and “How can I position myself for luck through networking skills?”.
The event also included a roundtable discussion on this year’s Future Leaders session at the Annual Joint Business Conference: “Shaping the Future Workforce Together – A 20 Year Vision for Social Transformation”. Topics explored included the future of work, with focuses of AI, drawning on Peter’s long-term expertise in statistics.
