The Innovation, Technology, and Startups Advisory Committee focuses on advancing Australia-Japan collaboration in innovation by creating programs and initiatives that foster long-term, systematic bilateral partnerships. A key goal is to establish an institutional framework to support ongoing bilateral innovation efforts, including securing dedicated funding for joint activities.
The committee prioritises promoting advances in critical areas such as digital technologies, food and fibre innovation, medical technologies, clean energy solutions, sports technologies, and innovation in transport, defence, advanced manufacturing, and construction.
The annual AJBCC conference serves as a platform to drive these efforts, and for significant announcements, such as the revitalisation of the Australia-Japan Innovation Fund.
The committee has also played a pivotal role in organising the annual Australia-Japan Innovation Alliance Forum, a one-day event dedicated to knowledge sharing, community building, and exploring opportunities in the innovation space. Through these activities, the committee seeks to strengthen private-sector engagement and ensure Australia-Japan partnerships remain at the forefront of technological advancements and innovation.
